Since taking the helm of The Allen Morris Company in 1980 at the young age of 28, W. Allen Morris has propelled the company his father established 57 years ago to monumental heights. Today, The Allen Morris Company is one of the largest diversified real estate firms in the Southeast with offices throughout Florida.
The Allen Morris Company has completed 79 developments and currently has two projects under construction: the 1.3 million square foot, 58-story luxury hotel and condominium – SLS LUX Brickell – a joint venture with Related Group, and the 347-unit, $70 million Hermitage Apartment Homes in St. Petersburg, Florida. The company just announced its newest project, the $67 million Maitland City Centre, creating a new mixed-use downtown for the City of Maitland, Florida, combining the new City Hall, Central Park and Festival Street with residential apartments, live-work-office suites, and a Festival Marketplace with shops and restaurants. The company will soon announce another mixed-used, urban project in midtown Atlanta later this year.
Allen has earned acclaim as one of the industry’s most respected leaders. In 2014 he was awarded Business Leader of the Year by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. He is also a past recipient of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce R.E.A. L. Award, having earned recognition as a Trend Setter Award in 2011, and received the South Florida Business Leader of the Year Award in Real Estate in 2009.
An officer and director of more than 35 related real estate companies, and president of two charitable foundations and an art museum, Allen is intimately engaged with the community, serving in numerous civic and philanthropic capacities. Most recently he, along with his wife June, served as Chairs of VeritageMiami wine and food festival benefiting the United Way of Miami-Dade.
Allen is a graduate of Harvard Business School, and earned his bachelor’s degree from his beloved Georgia Institute of Technology. He is married to June Elizabeth Thomson Morris and has four children, two stepchildren and two grandchildren.
