Gonzalo Cortabarría, Senior Vice President of Swire Properties Inc, oversees the leasing and operations of Brickell City Centre, the $1.2 billion mixed‐use development currently under construction in the heart of Miami’s financial district. Cortabarría joined Swire Properties in February 2015 and brings with him 25 years of experience in acquisition, development and asset management of large commercial real estate projects in the US and Latin America.

Prior to joining Swire Properties, a leading real estate developer in South Florida and U.S. headquarters for Hong Kong‐based Swire Properties Ltd., Cortabarría held the title of Managing Director with Hines Interests LP based out of Houston. He was responsible for development and asset management for Hines in South Florida and played a key role in the opening of Hines’ offices in Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.

During his career, Cortabarría over aw the leasing of more than 3 million square feet of office space, participated in the development of more than 1 million square feet of commercial real estate, and oversaw project financing of an estimated $250 million.

Cortabarría brings with him international experience conducting development and acquisition underwritings in Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. He has previously lived in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.

Originally from Montevideo, Uruguay, Cortabarría holds an undergraduate degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Uruguay and a Master in Real Estate from MIT.
